Macs are better than Pc, C# is better than Java, Unix is better than Windows, RDBMS are better than NoSQL databases... Why can't people just use the best tool for the job and move on... From a personal stand-point we've switched from MySQL

Not really hosting per say, but I've started to use Google App Engine recently. No control over the software/hardware but it's nicely designed if all you want is a rest front end (web/api) to your application.

I've had a descent amount of experience with SimpleDb and unfortunately I don't find it as good as what Amazon makes it out to be. The name "Simple" defines the service very well. There are too many limitations which makes SimpleDb almost
