And much of what people use AI for now could be easily done without it. How many steps of a Claude Code /plan are just running basic ls commands, all for a few thousand tokens? The entire thing reeks of laziness and incompetence. It&#x

There is no reality that macOS could be based on Linux. Turns out, an operating system is more than just a kernel with some userspace crap tacked on top, unlike what Linux distros tend to be.

Not trying to gloat but damn am I glad I'm grandfathered in at the old "Google Play Music" $8/mo price. Even so, if and when Google decides to not honor that contract anymore, I'd still happily pay for YT Premium.

We need to start talking about people like this truthfully: they are sick. Fucked up. Broken. They do not deserve fame or fortune, they deserve a padded cell, close observation by psychologists and neurologists and try and figure out how we

Basically no one supports Broadcom SoftMAC WiFi cards very well, but OpenBSD just doesn't. I have a 2015 MacBook Air with a BCM4350 where the recommended fix is to go buy a FullMAC card from a similar vintage MacBook Pro and just cope

So am I. I presume I can read if after he passes away, if I am still around. Otherwise I am content to respect people's wishes for anonymity and privacy, as there are plenty of other interesting things to learn about.

There is also the fact that an IPv6 IP has a maximum and minimum number of characters and separators, but not a set one, so the length of any given address is variable. Instead of being able to run a groove in my head mentally, and read wit

An internal PCIe slot can be had in up to 16x 5.0, whereas Thunderbolt 5 maxes out at 4x of 4.0. Plus you have another Thunderbolt controller in between the CPU and the hardware, and it takes more energy to push that many bits 1m over a ca

Yeah but I don't actually care if some orphaned cache or config file gets left behind if it doesn't take up GBs of space. Clearing the package receipt database of stuff you want to uninstall is fucking neurotic, I'm sorry,

The crazy workaround only needs to be done because of what Apple did probably around a decade ago and probably already heard a bunch of crying about and didn't care. No one removed subpixel antialiasing on their own, we do this bullshi

This is what us proles on third-party monitors have to do to make text look halfway decent. My LG DualUps (~140ppi if I recall) run at 2x of a scaled resolution to arrive at roughly what would be pixel-doubled 109ppi, which is the only pixe

Because 1x mode has no subpixel antialiasing and thus looks absolutely terrible. I have a 32:9 Ultrawide I would love to use on macOS but the text looks awful on it.

Yes but Apple got to drop subpixel anti-aliasing support because this workaround is "good enough" for all of their built-in displays and overpriced mediocre external ones, so we all get to suffer having to render 4x the pixels tha
