> iOS is locked down in such a fundamental way that any innovation will not come about unless Apple specifically envisions it and designs the OS to support it. No platform highlights the issue you hit on here like VisionOS. It is barren.

"window positions not restoring at application start" Well you see, you are actually just silly for wanting this or asking for this, because it's actually just a security flaw...or something. I will not elaborate further.

It's simple. The people in charge of such decisions were too stupid or self-assured to realize or worry about such obvious problems. There is no meritocracy. These billion dollar brands and endeavors, that have thousands of livelihoods

The thing is that when a video is being re-encoded, so long as I'm not trying to play games on my computer at the same time, I'm free to go do something else. It does not command any of my attention while its working, whereas sitt

And I thank god every day we don't. The ISO keyboard is awful. Left shift is too important of a key to be 1u. I don't need a massive enter key that lives on two rows. Just insane choices.

Because we know how much power it's actually going to take? Because OpenAI is buying enough fab capacity and silicon to spike the cost of RAM 3x in a month? Because my fucking power bill doubled in the last year? Those are all real thi

I used to work in fast food, Golden Arches. I noticed a pattern after a while. We'd always have themed toys for the Happy Meals, sure, sometimes they'd be like ridiculously popular with people rolling through just to see what toys

My favorite factoid is that the most energetic power production facility on the planet is the Three Gorges Dam, with a nameplate capacity of 22.5GW. That dam took 10 years to build and cost $30B. And OpenAI needs more than ten of them in 7

It makes me wonder, does Apple have some insane patent on unibody construction? The pre-Retina unibody MacBook Pros were easily upgradable and very solid. They had a ton of room in the chassis, and hell, the first year of them the battery w

The M.2 form factor isn't that conducive to having lots of them, since they're on the board and need large connectors and physical standoffs. They're also a pain in the ass to install because they lie flat, close to the board
