I'd agree, there was a great book called Deep C Secrets by Peter van der Linden. The book itself is not without errors but still provided some useful insights to things I didn't realize I was doing wrong back when I coded in C.

I remember back when I was in the valley, I'd go to a job interview and be pitched by one or more of the interviewers about side projects or equity only opportunities on the side. It happened more than once. That place is or was crazy

I have run Ubuntu and RedHat on multiple hardware, Desktop, not just server, dozens of machines the past 10 years. Freezing on all those hardware combinations was never a problem. Crashing was absolutely never a problem.

I have most OVH IP's blocked on my servers because I get too many hack attacks from VMs they are hosting for their customers.

Given that the price calculators for Google Cloud, HP Cloud, Rackspace, etc are online, you can check for yourself. The key one is bandwidth cost for their services.

So...Google can stop all DDOS's? Everyone should dump AWS, Linode, Cloudflare, etc. and go to Google for their VMs then.

Every point you make I can counter, I've been with them for years, have multiple VMs with them, find their support team fast, competent and courteous. DDOS is a problem for every ISP and every ISP customer.

Thinking the same thing, I use vi for short scripts all the time but can't imagine doing anything more complex than that without the power of an IDE to assist with or even do the grunt work for me.
