99% of smartphone owners don't need a smartphone at all. You can do photos, calls, browse web and check social media on any feature phone. The difference for that 1% is quite big in favor of android though.

Have you actually looked at other laptops? True, most doesn't come with nvme ssd, but you can always upgrade (which you cannot on a macbook), processors and graphics are way better for half the price, and you usually get a matte screen

Just look at amazon, Laptops with 7700hq and gtx1060 start at about $1k. Equivalent MBP cost almost $3k, while having ddr3 instead of ddr4 and way worse GPU that other vendors pair with this processor.

Replacing chrome in chromeOS would make it not chromeOS too. But you can use chromium instead of chrome if you want, and nothing stops you from developing same OS with different browser and installing it on Chromebook. With iOS it is safar

You can always install other os along with other browser on a chromebook. You can install whatever engine you want on android. With ios you cannot do anything, you're just stuck with safari.
