I can recommend Zim wiki which is a GTK+ desktop app that works as a personal wiki / notebook. Has a WYSIWYG editor and can export to different formats, it can even render the wiki as html and serve it. Also supports plugins for extra

There are a few things you can do. 1. Get a better shell with good auto-completion. I find bash to be lacking in this regard. I use fish but others like zsh. 2. Use a helper command like `tldr`[1]. It's not perfect and certainly not a

Thanks, didn't realise Python releases are supported for so long. For Libreoffice the LTS release is called 'Still': https://www.libreoffice.org/download/release-notes/

LTS releases are very welcome, more open source software should adopt this release style. So far the Linux kernel, NodeJS, LibreOffice, Django have LTS candidates. Would love Python to join that list.

I like the bit about the CEO. He's the one you should be dealing with _directly_ should the shit hit the fan. Not the HR department, not your line manager. They're just peons. Also keep in mind the CEO might be concealing all sor

What an embarrassment. Just let the students upload whatever file, run it through imagemagick on the backend and convert to JPEG or PNG. If the output if garbage then shoot them an email.

It's one of my favourite parts of London. Paid ridiculous amounts in rent years ago for a small flat just to live close and be able to enjoy it every day. It's not really a park, more like a forest inside the city, peppered with m

That CPU is a great choice. The specs on paper won't tell you the whole story. I've got the Pentium G5400 and even though it's rated at 58W TDP its actual power consumption and heat output is on the low end. I don't have

I switched from bash to fish mainly for its incredible autocomplete features. It's not 100% bash compatible like zsh, but doesn't need much configuration and has very good defaults.

The whole reason for doing WSL2 was running Docker on Windows, which is currently one of the development "killer apps". AFAIK in the previous implementation they could not get Overlayfs to work properly.
