Exception, companies like datadog where they're actually operating in several clouds for good business reasons (it's where their customers are).

Any links handy to justify that claim? My impression from headlines was that some massive enterprise M&A was blocked recently but not so much "startup exits". Maybe I missed it though!

If you're making a play with a small chance of huge upside, but a big chance of losing, most people colloquially call that "gambling".

Primarily it's protecting yourself from those weirdos by pre-empting them, though.

They're not saying it's coincidence, they're saying it's herd behavior and groupthink.

I once heard it proposed as an immutable law of nature, been looking for exceptions ever since. None so far.

Good reminder to monitor for the actual problem, and not a proxy, if you can. Printer heads being on for 10ms isn't a problem, overheating is. Might have been cost-prohibitive or too complex to add in a thermometer and use that to shu

"Contempt culture" is one way to put it, definitely had some toxic elements, but it was also actual hacker culture. The nice-ification of tech has come with corporatization and has its own downsides.

They built a ton of stuff after those researchers were hired, including original gchat. They stopped being able to build a chat app after different people were hired.

Taking your frickin car is new. A judge made a decision that past jurisprudence applies to towing cars that happen to have cameras nearby, nobody was doing it until that first warrant got signed.

It can be both, but I'd say having types for the arguments in your method signature is more "moderate and safe".

Being a moderate, lowest common denominator language does have its own value, though. It's easy to reason about, easy to hire for and easy to pick up if you know other mainstream languages. It's not just the chicken-egg market do

The idea of political manipulation and/or censorship on social media only became a thing after 2016, and even then it took time to ramp up. All of the incumbents were established with network effects long before then, they are very sti

Yes, it's arbitrary, 20 would also make the same point, 0.1 would not. If you're saying "we must censor abhorrent viewpoints for the good of society", I'll just counter that your viewpoints are horrible and must be
