How can people hold on onto their birth certificate? The infrastructure is already in place for that, so the problem is that they didn’t understand that that piece of paper was worth money. Handing over a monopoly bill will have the same

If you can, find a remote job and move to a more social location. It’s not for me, but I see lots people loving coworking and coliving around me. Reduce your work hours to 25/30 per week and work when/where you feel like it.

You can’t cloak email addresses that are part of the commit itself. If you can access the raw repo, you can access the raw email address. GitHub already offers an email cloaking mechanism but you have to set it up in your local git config i

Great! I can also disable "in-video info cards" which are the user-picked videos overlaid on the video, almost always covering the last few seconds of whatever I'm watching unless the video has a 10s ending card. Super annoyi

It’s not just designers. I’ve given up suggesting style improvements because the boss comes back with “no user complained about it yet” when my suggestion is to use less crappy color. Who is going to complain about a color? Smh

The problem here is that they’re not even trying. How can they not know that such PR would never be merged? For this reason I don’t think public contributions are why they send the PRs

Yes but that’s on top of what GitHub is already sending, plus it must be multiplied by the number of comments left on top of that. It feels like 35 straight minutes of 100% usage isn’t great on any system. It presumably sent 61 million emai

You don’t get it. “Link building” is not 2007 stuff. You find 2022 articles with that. If you don’t believe it it’s not my problem.

AB is the worst. I don't know how long it's been going on, but on YouTube’s homepage it keeps alternating between "Hover to expand video and see Watch Later button" and the regular always-visible Watch Later button. htt

I don’t think it’s how it works because I see that crap daily in footers, especially in the travel industry. Open any hotel listing on TripAdvisor and count the “[something] in [location]” links in the footer.

It really depends on who you ask. The most "successful" companies don't whitehat their way there. Just open any modern social media website and tell me if they are respectful of the users — and you can see that part. SEO is

I get this sentiment. "SEO" is basically an euphemism for spamming at this point. It's no longer just "Let's repeat this keyword 3 times" but "let's add 120 footer links and spam 35 blog comment secti

I think people generally dislike them because they're often the odd thing in whatever dish (and because they're easily confused as chocolate chips), due to consistency and density. If you add raisins to a salad for example they&#x

I don’t think it’s very hard, I just think not enough people care enough about getting an equivalent result. Basically 80/20, but no one will pay for that 20 (yet)

Yeah but what’s the point? A single-user VPN means all traffic is already attributable to them. If the intent is just to access the Indian web, then sure. I’m sure there are plenty other non-privacy-aware VPNs that let you do that though.

Of course they’re not. It just might get more complicated for users but it’d be super easy for them to set up cloaking. uBlock could deal with that, ISP won’t. Either way that will never happen obviously; Why would an ISP “block ads”? They’

I’m pretty sure you can still write some js and load it into the browser or node. The issue is that 10 small instructions become a hundred (thankfully) and so if you read the wrong article you will be lost. If this guy was told to use `requ
