Also, Google is quite comfortable with the current duopoly in the EU market which works in their favour. The last thing they want is chrome becoming even more dominant on the mobile market there.

Yeah but what they'd be paying to Apple would be a tiny part of that.

I'm on Android for this reason but it's not ideal either, Google is clamping down a lot. But yeah an Apple phone just won't work for me, there are wayyy too many things I need daily that won't work on Apple.

Well the hololens did come with an optional shield/hardhat cover just for that kind of scenario. It's not unprecedented.

Yes however the server for all that did not cost a hundred bucks. A lot more than that :P Of course it's not the only thing I use it for either, and I view it as an investment in learning too. And it wasn't terribly expensive eith

I kinda have that though. I use a home assistant voice preview speaker, connected to a locally hosted whisper instance backed by Qwen 3.6. All local and fairly energy-reasonable :) Just saying it's not impossible to have your cake and

Well lidar in that form factor would end up just being an 8x8 laser DoF sensor like some smartphones have. There's no space or power budget for a real lidar. That would be ok I guess. That's not enough to capture much of anything

No but it would be handy. I don't really need my smartwatch to read notifications either but it's super handy when I'm out and I have my hands full. This would be even better (and replace my smartwatch I'm sure).

I'm sure you could do that without one. Gyro, accelerometer, compass, GPS, step counter, altimeter. Should be accurate enough for basic navigation. Especially with some smart dead reckoning algorithm that calibrates itself at known map

Well, I kinda wouldn't mind glasses that could show important notifications or maps. It could be handy for lots of things, like a heads up display. Not to watch the social feeds but to find my way or read a message from a friend saying

Wow really well done with the lenticular effect. I immediately recognised the reference to They Live too. That must have cost a lot. To get posters like that made.

You'd still need to have your system compromised by a malicious app to be tracked using that. On windows, it does that all by itself, Microsoft tracks you with it. Because windows is the malicious app just like the GP said.

For a lot of stuff it doesn't really matter whether it's E2EE though. I use it for bots that transfer information that isn't secret and for large public channels that everyone can join as they wish anyway. For private chats I

I don't really understand why they're putting so much effort in pushing what is basically a reskinned Google product. Why do they care that I use it? I have to use it at work because Microsoft lobbied them heavily and I don't

Perhaps Norway didn't get included? I know GDPR does apply to Norway, but perhaps the legal basis was in another law that didn't transfer to the EEA area? I don't use Facebook myself anymore so I can't check.

Every TV does that unfortunately. It's called automatic content recognition but every manufacturer has a different euphemism for it. It's definitely not just Samsung. As bad as this is. The problem is bigger than just them.

The green deal is needed to make sure we can still live in this world 50 years from now. We're already feeling the effects of climate change pretty heavily and it's only just starting. If anything the deal was too little too late.
