Not only server. If you have a Q-series desktop motherboard with AMT you can enable Serial-Over-Lan and access the machine remotely (and power on/off or reset it as well). Q series chipsets are also found on Fujitsu/Dell/HP

The benchmarkgame result are comparing apples to oranges. I stopped after seeing them tests Java regexes tot c# regexes which uses the native pcre library. In my professional experience, the .net jit is nearly always slower than the jvm one

I get Spotify, Candy crush and Office buttons in my start menu that I didn't install. It's not the same, but pretty close in terms of the OS doing things I didn't ask it to.

Having worked on a MVP for a healthcare company in Europe I can tell you that the users are not looking for better solutions. The doctors I worked with wanted a better pencil not some fancy solution. In our case it was improved traceability

It's clean but renewable not so much in two ways: they are planning one here at a depth of 2.5 to 3km. They expect it to last 30 years before the underground has cooled to much to be of use. Regenerating that heat (i.e. spreading the o

And the really funny thing is that the browser you are running this on includes ICU4C which does everything and does it better and is only about 20Mb in size.

What bothers me most about this is the statement: "including several who had past criminal convictions". The whole reason to put people in jail is to punish them. After they did their time the original crime should not be held aga

What does that statement mean? As far as i know stack VS AST is Apple VS. Oranges. If you meant a register based architecture that would make sense. I don't know is wasm code is verifiable, in which case it's trivial to rewrite it

Amiga did this in 1985. It's just that for compatibility reasons Apple couldn't do this. Even funnier: the fastest hardware to run old MacOS (68k version) on: an Amiga computer.

I'm missing a few in the list: 1) Have an API but only expose that via some weird-ass tool instead of a normal protocol. 2) Have a lot of documentation but make it so bad it's useless (looking at Telebib2 right now) 3) Only return

Before you voice an opinion it helps if you have the facts. What they did was write background stories on facebook news items to see if they could find corroborating news articles. Basically what every sane human should do when reading anyt

Yes it does but differently: the library is placed on disk and the symlink pointing to the new version is updates. Services depending on this library are restarted. Ssh handles this exceptionally well in that it keeps running sessions open

As far as I can make it, JSONs popularity grew from it being JavaScript which is, as we know, the knees bees. There was no big thinking in behind the whole thing and the role it plays today was certainly not the intended role (otherwise I c
