I built a house (or more correctly I paid a company to build one for me). The initial design could be done using an interactive tool that you can use. This is not different from web tools used to design a kitchen. I also think IKEA uses one

I did. I used their client but it got so bad that I decided to stop using Reddit instead of trying to use it. The app was bad and required restarts often because video wouldn't play. Then they fucked up some of the modes I used to read

Would Haskel or some other functional language be a part of a typical CS curriculum? I remember having a course about programming paradigms which introduced different languages and we wrote a small project based on functional languages.

I got my current job by writing the head of the regional office on LinkedIn which prompted a meeting about what I could do for them and a (paid) project so that we could evaluate each other. After the project we agreed that this was a good

Scrum is like communism. A good idea that doesn't work in reality. It's good on paper. Perhaps I never experienced a proper scrum team as the places that I worked always tried to follow a rigid process full of control and bottlene

I know Brosnan because my initial meeting with hard sci-fi was by reading a Polish magazine about sci-fi which printed one of his stories. Good times. He was a great author and I'm sad that he will not write any more stories .. he is u

The show is wonderful. The parents have great patience and colorful imagination. I wish I was less of a robot and more like Bluey's father. :)

I found it hilarious. Reddit is a burning ship and no one can put out the fire now no matter what they do when they piss off their user base like this. I plan to leave the platform in some spectacular way in a short time.

I test software using pytest. I mean I write system tests of whole applications using pytest where the embedded software is built using emulated HW. This allows me to test changes locally before I test on embedded hardware. This is a lot qu

I really don't need the current generation of smart devices. They are trying to solve a problem by applying quick fixes which don't work very well or need maintenance (changing batteries). I need a smart home where the built-in de

I could install a heat pump which can be run in reverse and cool the house. That would probably be cheap enough to install and use generated energy mostly. But a heat pump has an internal and external part. The internal part needs to be whe

Danfoss which is the maker of this (ground heat) pump doesn't support this. This is per design. You can buy an add-on with a separate loop which I find silly.

The heatpump is not able to cool the house - per design. It would need air conditioning.. which would be expensive. The house is very well insolatated and therefore difficult to keep cool during the warm months. We installed film blocking s

Which reminds me of socialism from my childhood behind the iron curtain. The dolar shops had the luxury stuff. Normal people didn't shop there. Corruption was the normal and you had to have money and a bribe to get something.
