Are there many ruby app built by large teams? In my experience, teams building Ruby apps tend to be much smaller than teams building Java apps .. That said, this is a problem for any libraries that you might want to include, you have to tru

It's the same issue here. Conservatives in power (right), Liberals in opposition (left/center) hold the bulk of the seats, NDP (left) and Bloc (left/separatists) hold the remainder. The NDP doesn't have enough seats to help the Cons on thei

I'm in. The Rhino is a popular hacker meetup place. Both Ajax pubnight ( http://www.ajaxcamp.org/ajax-pub-nite/ ) and Rails pubnight ( http://unspace.ca/innovation/pubnite ) are held there. Many of the attendees of those events frequent hac

Very cool, the syntax is similar to Potion CoffeeScript: square: x => x * x. Potion: square = (x): x * y.

I would assume the obstacle that prevented an earlier release was Rogers. I assume that Kindle must be a GSM device, and since Rogers is the only GSM provider in Canada, they must have played hardball on fees, etc. I really wish there was s

I'm a fan of Munin. It's super easy to write custom scripts for it in any language. For example, here's a script written in ruby to graph Passenger memory usage: http://gist.github.com/37525 Munin is only one component of a complete monit

Thanks Paul. I'm aware of Math Player, but I don't like the tradeoff of forcing our users to install a plugin for superior display quality/customizability vs. "it just works". The nature of our user base just doesn't make it feasible IMO. I

We actually do the same for math equations in LearnHub lessons (via texhub.com). Images are pretty much the only way to present complex math equations to a wide audience. MathML would be a much better solution only if it were natively suppo

Beanstalkd + async_observer (Rails plugin) have worked well for me. Add a Munin script to monitor the queue size ( http://gist.github.com/36116 ) and it's a pretty effective and manageable system.
