That's a bad comparison, people can predict timing much more accurately than they can react. A better example is mixing and recording music. Performers are recorded individually playing along to music they hear in their headphones. Acceptab

The CDDB/FreeDB format requires you to parse comments... http://www.jwz.org/doc/cddb.html And people do all kinds of nonsense with HTML comments. A very bad idea is often the fastest to implement.

I think it goes back to a cultural problem with government. They don't acknowledge hobby research as legitimate or useful. So they release data to universities and charge everyone else an obscene amount. This kills a lot of start up ideas.

You can make big reductions in crimes of opportunity by making them just a little more difficult. For instance, laws requiring bike helmets have big impacts on bike theft.

I think there's also a secondary explanation. There is a huge potential for security exploits in 3d code. Drivers are optimized for performance and glitches will likely allow malicious code. Forcing developers who use these features to sig

I'm suspicious that these stories are an attempt to drive down RIM's share price for a takeover. 12-15 months just doesn't seem realistic. RIM is profitable with cash reserves plus strong corporate and Asian markets. They can transition i

The problem is that isn't not just 10,000 hours. It's 10,000 hours of "mindful practice". That amounts to a huge, ill defined, fudge factor that allows you to discount any counter examples. So it's not clear that 10,000 hours is a falsifia
