For anyone interested in starting their own Godot journey, it’s hard to go wrong with Heartbeast. He just posted a new video this week to get a game done _today_! https://youtu.be/PjN9w_egTeA?si=evG941ZWrwNYi4X0

I recently picked up PICO-8 after about a decade of bouncing around different game engines. There’s something so satisfyingly simplistic about the SDK coming from Unity and Godot. Highly recommended!

I'm consistently surprised by the commenters on HN who seem to think jQuery is just a DOM selection library, when in fact it is a widely supported, incredibly stable tool set for (yes) DOM selection, but also attribute manipulation, Aj

Sounds fair to me, teach the 4 year old the consequences of unfair division --- that's the whole purpose of the exercise. The cutter _always_ has the ability to divide the whole in a way that will result in an unfair outcome: that'

Even that future seems massively unappealing as a consumer. Plus a $3500 dev kit that lets me set a kitchen timer, while simultaneously recommending I not wear the device while cooking, seems crazy to me.

This seems like a prank. I simply cannot fathom wanting this even if it were free --- and I own and have used multiple VR headsets. The idea that I'd want to live any significant portion of my day in one seems like absolutely madness.

I've been using Godot for hobby projects on-and-off for a while now, and overall I vastly prefer it to Unity. The scene hierarchy of Godot is a better mental model (for me) than the GameObject/MonoBehavior ever was. That said, I h

Yes. But I (and most of the people who work here) tend to agree: the capital concept of infinite growth is fundamentally broken. We're a small company, we have a flat salary policy (everyone, including the owners, earns the same wage).

How many monitors do you have? Do you never need to switch between multiple terminal windows or text editors or PDFs or word documents? I with cmd-` I can swap between just the windows inside the application context, and with cmd-tab I can

Shai Agassi was on the cover of WIRED back in 2008 and college me thought he was going to save the world. Like a proto-Musk if Elon were actually in it to save the planet.

I’ll chime in as a business owner. We peg our raises to the SSA cost of living adjustments. This means our bump for employees at the end of 2021 was just under 6%. If current trends continue, likely a similar number at the end of this year.

Not quite what you're after, but Blender in sidecar works really, really well for pen-based workflows. I can sculpt and texture paint with the Apple Pencil and it all just... works.

My company once took a project on Azure, and ended up giving a 35% cut on our invoices to move to AWS. The bugs I filed while working on that project are still not closed. That was 4 years ago.
