Yeah globalism is what got us into this dependency on China (and on the US as well). I'm very much a proponent of limiting international investment.

Um maybe because the government isn't supposed to work for profit but to enforce the law and do the right thing for victims and society? If they're going to be only prosecuting crimes where there's something in it for them it

I work in a company that's "all in on AI" and there's so much BS being blown up just because they can't have it fail because all the top dogs will have mud on their faces. They're literally just faking it. Just

I use the generic intel drm-kmod driver, it works well and supports acceleration though you do need some additional stuff like libvaapi. Not sure what hardware is best. I just use it on a NUC so I didn't have any choice in hardware opt

As a desktop user I definitely have a lot of benefit of ZFS even with one drive. It's got bitrot check, copy on write (better crash protection than journals) and snapshots. All life savers especially on desktop. ZFS doesn't only s

In common yes but it's not windows, that's pretty obvious. Especially that start menu with the tiles on windows is very different (and horrible because the default doesn't look like that screenshot, it's filled with ads,

For novice users there's already other more opinionated environments anyway. I get KDE because it's powerful not because I want my grandma to use it. In fact I don't understand why people are rooting for Linux on the desktop.

KDE looks different enough to windows in its default install though. And you can make it look like whatever you want, that's the best thing about it. Mine is heavily customised.

Kubuntu isn't really feature complete compared to Ubuntu, for example the installer doesn't allow to create a zfs on root install.

I donate monthly anyway. KDE is amazing and I love the extensive options in this day and age of horrible opinionated design. I just wish they weren't in such a hurry to deprecate X11 because Wayland isn't quite there yet on my OS

At our place we have two types of users. One that is a deep evangelist, says it revolutionised their office work and has no idea that it might have accuracy problems. I guess those are the people that just create a lot of hot air. The other

I found that using opus helps a lot. It's eyewateringly expensive though so I generally avoid it. I pay through the API calls because I don't tend to code much.

China plays the neoliberal game harder than America, they're beating them at their own game. They're only communist in some aspects like strict top down food chain but their economy is very capitalist. As a socialist I'm cert

That's such an American take. Something doesn't have to be a "winner" to be useful. I enjoy using FreeBSD on my desktop and I don't care about the 0.01% marketshare. I really dislike all the corporate involvement in

Yeah in the name of "security". Unfortunately it also means giving the key to the Kingdom to a company like Microsoft or Google which are definitely adversaries in my book. Keeping them in check was still possible with full system

They could though. They're just being overly cautious. All it forbids is blocking users from running modified FOSS code which macOS doesn't do. You can compile what you want and run it in Xcode. Even on iOS you can do this. What T

Yes though corporate OneDrive is very different from the consumer one. It's a lot less pushy. Though it's very well possible to use another service as a corporate client. We did for many years.

True that was the other reason I moved off it. Linux and KDE have never bothered me about such matters <3 However macOS doesn't cram this party advertising, news headlines, shopping coupons and (for now) AI services down your throat

Microsoft is such a scummy company. They always were but they've become even worse since they've gone all in on AI. I wonder if this is also a thing for their EU users. I can think of a few laws this violates.
