For better or for worse, Anderson is very much an auteur [0], like Godard or Woody Allen. Almost certainly in a self-conscious way. Complaining that Anderson movies feel like Anderson movies seems almost to miss the point: do we look at Pic

OP's sort of being misleading when they say they "rewrote it in Rust", IMO. They're still using HTML and JS for their UI, rather than a native solution. The size/perf improvements mostly just come from using the OS&

Hmm. I'm pretty sure Kojima directed Metal Gear before Snatcher (and worked on various other Konami games before that). And Snatcher was a PC-88 game, not a PC-98 game. All great games, at any rate.

I've fantasized about some kind of a dependently-typed Smalltalk-like thing before, and in those fantasies the solution would be that changes would be submitted in the form of transactions - they wouldn't be live until you bundled

Does Erlang/Elixer have any edge over Ocaml or Haskell in that niche? They also have pattern matching, of course, and strong static types tend to work nicely for compilers too. Of course, the big superpower they have is the BEAM and th

Nothing that anyone’s watching on Disney+ was from The Tracy Ullman Show. And by the second or third season of the show proper it was already a bona fide cultural phenomenon, so one would hope (hah) Fox might’ve been a bit forward thinking

And it's easy to understand how we get into that trap. Each one of those abstractions is very low-cost, so it seems harmless. And getting out of the trap is hard too, because no single abstraction is to blame - you can't just hit

The IIGS uses a 65816, the same 16-bit CPU that's used in the SNES. Since the MiSTer already has excellent SNES support, I don't think there's anything to be done as far as modeling the CPU for the IIGS. This is a "fanta
