No I'm talking about the inherent nature of deep learning algorithms.

The amount of paranoia and fear mongering over gpt is insane. Firstly you don't get paid to churn out lines of code. You get paid to build, maintain and own systems. Secondly GPT is impressive but it is in the end a statistical matchin

US universities are no better. It's not a public / private issue. It's classic rent seeking behavior.

AI has advanced mostly due to increase in compute and data available. The results are very impressive but the defects are also pretty obvious. Just like self driving cars we'll soon get into the long tail problem

Everyone I worked with had a undergrad is CS/math/engineering and plenty had masters / PhDs. That's generally what the profile of devs at faang looks like. I'm sure there are some people who have different backgroun

Yeah LLMs are fun and can be useful but they are full of garbage and dangerous in production. Suspect that part will never be solved and their use cases will remain restricted to toys

It's becoming pretty clear that almost nothing of value has been created in the 2010-2020 "tech" boom. Really unfortunate state of affairs

Engineers get paid much better than sales on average. You probably don't want such a variable compensation structure

Lol Elon simps tend to be people like that. Technically capable intelligent people can generally see through the bs

Well I think the association with very online right wing trolls is affecting his perception amongst normal people. But cannot say for sure

Elon's great strength is his personality cult. I think that being shattered in the eyes of normal people is a great thing.

It's actually a pretty clear labour vs capital conflict. Elons just a regular PE style investor who's hoping to gut the company and sell it off without actually changing anything

It mostly works but it's clear that some features are slowly breaking. Maybe it won't matter that it's starting to look rough around the edges but I would love for a real competitor to show up

The difference between other Dev tools and GitHub is the probability of getting things wrong. Like when intellij types out boilerplate or a compiler generates code it's 100 percent correct and if it fails, it fails predictably. Copilot

Imo google and amazon have more of a moat than Apple. While I don't think it's easy to replicate Apples marketing and design I think its more likely that consumer preferences will change than a company being able to replicate sear

Yeah we've lived in a good job market. Can't assume it'll last forever but giving programmers some autonomy is likely the best way to move a software company forward so I wouldn't be surprised if that continues

Yeah I'm very down for a hard working mission driven environment. I have never once needed to be coddled. But I'm not down to work for a shameless self promoter who fires all who disagree. I wouldn't work for Elon for the sam
