Flatpak does exactly that. You can even fine-tune what folders you give to the app (Flatseal is great for this). xdg-desktop-portal makes things even better: app can only access files that you explicitly choose when prompted - kinda like on

High temperature is the point. The efficiency of heat engines depend on the temperature difference (relative to ambient). The hotter you can go, the better. (granted this thing isn’t really an “engine”, but the trend still applies)

What you suggested is more similar to what Solar Thermal systems do ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_thermal_energy ). They are known to be more efficient than solar photovoltaics. They have their own downsides of c

This is wrong. Light CAN cause electricity. See the Photoelectric effect ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photoelectric_effect ).

This comment sounds AI-generated. If you’re a real person can you explain the point you were trying to deliver and why you chose to write this way?

Have you seen Skulpt [1]? It doesn’t do matplotlib (or most other library) but it’s pure JS. [1]: https://skulpt.org/

I created a tiny library to make hooks out of classes a while ago. Just posted on Show HN after seeing this. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30760696

Hi HN! Hooks Considered Harmful [0] is being discussed so I thought I should share this library I made. Normally React hooks are written with functions but with this library you use classes instead. You have access to lifecycle methods such

Kiwi Browser is not FOSS. They have a skeleton GitHub repo with Chromium code. Their patches aren’t published.

I’m using the [Expo SDK]( https://expo.io ) and it declares a whole bunch of permissions yet goes through review fine without any explanation.

This is correct. And it is normal practice for not-truly-native apps (apps using React Native, Ionic, etc.). By declaring every permission in the manifest, they can add new features that would require those permissions without by just updat

That is true when you’re playing in your browser. On the mobile app (at least the iOS version) you can request computer analysis for your game done on the server.

IIRC back in iPhone 6 days the CPU production was split between TSMC and Samsung. The TSMC ones were measurably better (performance, thermals, battery life), but the difference wasn’t very big, so most people didn’t care.

It’s only 500 entries. One could probably scrape more from controversial reddit comments. Good effort nonetheless.

Concise and simple functional components are often desirable. But class components and OOP allow you to make components that are complex yet generic and reusable. Example from real experience: I had an `InfinityScroller` functional componen

They could have used the main display to show the numbers but that would be too complicated, so they need a special display for numbers. The hardware behind that number display could thus be considered a form of GPU.

I agree with your argument in the case of Google. It would be good if Android, Google Earth, etc., are broken off from the main Google. But for Facebook I don’t see how it can be broken down. Instagram, Whatsapp, and Messenger, Facebook’s t
