Here's the link to the blog post from that twitter thread: https://pluralistic.net/2021/10/16/sociopathic-monsters/ So, really, this is a case of writing a blog post and cross posting it to twitter.

You’d get more thrust, but lower delta-v for the same total mass, because you’re replacing propellant mass with fixed mass.

I (personally) forked rectangle a few years back to give me thirds of a window, for a 32" display running in 4k@1x. I use (basically) left, middle, right, and top half/bottom half.

I disturbed a bald eagle eating a road kill deer by driving by one time. You know how crows and other birds will take off and look like they're going to hit your car? Now imagine it with a bird with a 6 foot wingspan.

I've had outdoor cats -- at one point two brothers. One was a complete terror for birds. He'd go after them all, including hummingbirds. Left bits everywhere. Then we lost him due to something bigger and sharper. The other one cou

This is pretty clearly against EU principles. If anything this is more like a US alignment than a EU alignment. It's pretty in line with their online protection act though, which is threatening jurisdiction over worldwide websites, no

As the chart is updated bi-weekly, but the data point that may change is for the current year. The first few days or weeks of a new year are less accurate compared to the end of a year.

Track cyclists (sprinters, world class) do 2KW+ peak for a few seconds at a time. That's potentially ~3HP. (and while doing so, average more than 70kph over a 200m distance)

That $800 first egg... 10 years back, we were getting eggs at something like 25c/egg in feed costs. But we had a bunch of birds that only laid every 2 or 3 days, so they were no where near as efficient as a first year dedicated layer.

Meanwhile in Ireland, I can get a tray of 30 free range for 8 eur at a vending machine on the dog walk. Or 15 for 4.50. Lidl is maybe marginally cheaper, prices there have gone up maybe 20% in a year.

That could be a really quick retrofit -- looks like only the chain and chainguard would need to change for the standard utility type bike. Top speed would probably depend on the rear cog, unless they're doing something really sneaky.
