AI was defined by Marvin Minsky in 1956 as "the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by men." Later in 1959, Arthur Samuel defined machine learning as a "field of study that gives compu

Perhaps to decouple DST transition rules from other time-zone changes. So if the time-zone offset is adjusted for some other reason then the DST rule does not also need to be changed.

Not the original commenter but I expected a semantic macro to be something that expands on syntax-aware macros (in languages like Scheme or Rust) into doing things based on the semantics of the code. Not sure exactly what that would entail

Multithreading and 64-bit integers come to mind as creating difficulty, and I imagine "raw" memory buffer access having much higher latency to the point where it's completely impractical. For example, a quick search gave me t

I think the idea is that padding results in lower storage efficiency, which means fewer rows per page and hence lower I/O throughput. By changing the column order you can reduce the amount of padding required.

It certainly has direct framebuffer access. But the bitplane representation where the bits of each pixel's value are spread out across multiple bytes can make certain kinds of updates very time consuming.

Right, I have seen the Dell screen before. But it is currently an extremely niche product which means it is wildly outside my price range. And the VG3281 is still not available in my country even though it was released in 2023.

On a related note, I thought that by 2024 we would have displays with 250+ dpi resolution, but to my disappointment I'm still waiting for this to be a reality on anything but small laptop screens. A lot of the rendering tricks that cor

Of course tooling should permit 0.x.y releases but I think the author vastly overestimate their value. The point of semver is to know what has changed between releases. If your 1.0.0 API was not good, just release 2.0.0. It's not under
