There is a single row of apps that can be favorited on the bottom row of the screen for quick access. There is also a search bar that searches across apps, some direct app actions (like Firefox: New Tab), contacts, and some settings. The

KISS is probably my favorite "app" on Android. I don't need to remember where an icon is located, just a few taps (sometimes even just one) of its name in the search bar and it'll show up immediately. It's amazing

From their repo, it looks like OpenAI Whisper? Language support FUTO Voice Input is currently based on the OpenAI Whisper model, and could theoretically support all of the languages that OpenAI Whisper supports. However, in practice, the sm

I had not heard of Parakeet until earlier today with Handy [1]. I've previously had good luck with FUTO's keyboard and it's companion voice input app [2] on my Android, both of which are local-only after downloading the model

At my $DAYJOB, we have a bunch in-house saltstack states for applying the CIS benchmarks for Ubuntu, Debian, and CentOS. I never looked into it, but I always wondered if I'd be allowed to publish them publicly.

You can also use light handkerchiefs that fall slower to the ground than balls, pins, or flaming chainsaws.

I wrote this migration tool when we moved years back from a locally hosted Bitbucket instance to Gitlab.com. I haven't tested it recently, but happy to take merge requests to address gaps. [1] https://gitlab.com/jeremy

I've been selfishly wondering the same thing. The Frame is on my shortlist (as long as the price wasn't too crazy).

We at $DAYJOB had an internal git server that was literally what the parent of this comment mentioned (`git init --bare`). It became a little cumbersome, so when I stumbled across forgejo, I was happy to see that importing the existing git

Not related to the main conversation, but I'm still mad that the DVD menu of that movie gave away the reveal before the movie even started (showed someone limping and then suddenly not limping anymore as they walked down the street).

[EDIT] I should have included the full C option: Change state or communicate externally. The ability to call `cat` and then read results would "activate" the C option in my opinion.

I really liked Simon's Willison's [1] and Meta's [2] approach using the "Rule of Two". You can have no more than 2 of the following: - A) Process untrustworthy input - B) Have access to private data - C) Be able to

At $DAYJOB, we have had confirmed and paid for orders be cancelled within the last week due to price hikes. One DDR5 server configuration went from ~$13k to near $25k USD in a matter of days. We also were looking for DDR4 memory for some o

For what it's worth, Rocket League plays just fine on Linux if you use Proton, but your point on the others still stands. I've had to stop playing a few games once I made the switch-over (Destiny, GTA V), but am otherwise very hap

Assuming that one could get a functional networking stack up, could running `sfc /scannow` fix all the missing pieces, similar to a netboot deployment of Linux?

FWIW, Rocket League works just fine on Linux, but you need to set it to the Proton compatibility, not the native Linux client.

I have put together my own desktop gaming rigs for decades now, but some repairs on laptops are beyond what I'm willing to do. I've twice brought laptops to the near-ish Micro Center and both times had a great experience that was

Coming from PHP, the lack of trailing commas in JSON always bites me. It's annoying when I rearrange the items and now the missing comma line was buried somewhere upwards.
