I read somewhere that saying things are important for your career makes chatGPT do a better job (probably on Hacker News), so I sound like someone on a children’s show and often say something like “this is important to my career, let’s bot

I play D&D because I’m hyper competitive and D&D doesn’t trip that “competing against other people” that makes me short circuit (and often spend a ton of money, Magic The Gathering especially got me so I won’t play that at all anymo

Tongue in cheek, although it works better than you’d expect at first blush. Add the word “mad” to the beginning. If it sounds scary it’s a real science, if it sounds silly and makes you laugh it’s not. “Mad chemist” sounds scary, what if th

If it makes you feel any better, my daughter is about to turn five and has spina bifida. She is quite the chatterbox, but due to advances in modern medicine, got a brain shunt put in at a very early age so she’s normal intelligence for her

In a year or less we’ll have an open source model solving captchas that you can download off of Huggingface. Heck, it’s probably there right now.

Maybe everyone else on Hacker News are all super geniuses who don’t benefit from it, but I’m a developer about 9 years into my career and have found ChatGPT4 to be absolutely astonishing for helping me learn new skills and improve my produc

Okay to be fair she was on Ubuntu. She doesn’t seem to have issues with macOS at all though, aside from the one time I had her using a VPN and it expired which is totally on me and disabling it was nonobvious.

I don’t even use the same OS at work. I use macOS at home, but work at a Windows shop on a Dell. I guess this is because in college and my first few dev jobs used Macs. A nice side effect is my wife hasn’t had any tech support complaints si

We had an in home care nurse who watched our disable infant daughter go on a trip to Abu Dhabi trip, and brought back bed bugs. The nursing company tried to act like this was our responsibility, and tried to act like it was our fault, as if

It’s way easier to just give up the scientific mumbo jumbo and be wholly uninterested in the topic as regardless of any free will or not I’m going to keep on existing and acting as if I have free will. So the question literally doesn’t mat

Hah yes I needed to send a fax to the government for my disabled daughter’s medical benefits and it would have been $70 at UPS. I couldn’t believe it. I sent it certified mail for $6 instead.

That’s pretty cool. I’d never though about bogons and debogonizing before, it’s like chasing off all the squatters on your property and more keep coming. You need some fat pipes and beefy servers to be able to handle all the bogus traffic

I ate a diet where 80% of my calories were from fat and I struggled to eat more than 1300 calories in a day. I think unless you’re eating cheesecake every day (hyperpalatable foods where carbs + fat calories are near a 1:1 ratio) you’re not
