I was under the impression that the FBI (or SS or DHS or whoever) showed up at Noisebridge on a regular enough basis that there's a section on their wiki for "if you're the door-answerer, and it's the Feds again, here&#x

Heh, some friends and I joked about doing this a few years ago when one of us got a nice CNC machine. :) I don't think that you should worry about the NSA getting your door key from the cloud; anyone who'd be able to use that acce

Oh, the protocols are already in place; consider RFC2017. Sending a link to something (even wrapped in a nice ui and container) has pretty different semantics from actually sending the something, though.

C has a sort of declaration-by-example syntax. You're declaring that *someVar has type NSString. (IMHO, thinking of it this way also makes more complex declarations like function-pointer types, types with qualifiers, etc., easier to re

I'm under the impression that pick-up-and-drop-off laundry has been a common business in larger cities for the last, oh, century or more? Is this just a "...yeah, but this time it's on the Internet!" business model?

It can be pretty enlightening to read the few postmortems of big hacks that do get published. Another seemingly common scenario (aside from a direct attack on the server) is to spear-phish someone else inside the company, not necessarily an

This is kind of like asking why there's more than one model of car on the road. Other than wanting to carry more people or go faster, what differences are there? Any automaker could just produce three vehicles: a sports coupe, a panel

Is there a good cite for the 100-mile border search zone being "found wanting"? A court case or something? I'd like to be able to link that in discussions, if it's true.
