I don't think it's strictly a homophone because they are pronounced differently. As far as typo/grammar mistakes though, it's one of the most common.

I imagine that some prescriptions for antibiotics by doctors are more or less because the doctor doubts it calls for antibiotics but rationalizes that the placebo effect will help, coupled with patient's angst that they may leave the doctor

On the harshness scale, I'm surprised with the number of downvotes some recent comments get not on the quality of a comment, but that the voter disagrees with its stance. I like well-crafted comments that I completely disagree with; it chal

Yeah, an experienced startup developer can acknowledge and articulate the tradeoffs between time to market and the perfect design, sometimes delaying some of the design (e.g. perhaps deferring scaling tasks until it's needed) to get things

Wow, this does look life changing. I've been experimenting a lot with ctrl-x in insert mode but it's a bit clunky in comparison. The link to supertab is: http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=182

To me, unless the phone number is clearly marked that it's from HelpHive as opposed to the business, it's similar to a phishing site; it could really get delisted by google which would be the kiss of death for this company's business. I use

And don't forget the Zune time bug which caused a bit of embarrassment for Microsoft last year/beginning of this year. It's hard to test every boundary and edge condition, especially if you are relying on black box testing to catch bugs.

If I'm really excited about a position, I'll write my own code sample before I go to an interview. I'll typically write either a simple igoogle module or possibly a simple feature on my own website, proxying some of their calls through my

I ended up getting married and starting a family. Financially, it didn't make much sense to keep the boat if I wasn't going to use it often, and I was ready try some new things, so I ended up selling it.

In the SF Bay Area, I lived on a sailboat for about 5 years. Living in a constricted space like that definitely takes some time to get used to, but I enjoyed the experience quite a bit. Sailboats are great if you want to break the habit o

Does this line of argument really make any sense? Isn't "prior art" just as easy to defend against in a lawsuit? I'm not sure I really feel good about a big brother corporation creating bogus patents with the promise of doing it for the go

It takes a while for office prices to go down (at least it did in 2000-2001 after the first web crash). It's a great time to renegotiate an existing lease (lower price for a longer contract so you won't bolt after your initial lease expir

The article mentions Harold McGee's "On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen" which is an awesome book for learning the science behind cooking. I'd totally recommend that book in the tradition of food/cooking hacking.

Unfortunately, if you are adding a lot of elements, your performance can really suffer by creating DOM elements. It helps if you "createDocumentFragment" but as far as I know, shoving a big string into the non-standard innerHTML member is

Windows flash seems to have better performance than linux or mac. I have dual boot older Dell and the difference between Windows and Linux is significant. Same holds for my triple boot netbook: linux and mac are much slower than windows.
