My dad runs a small plastic injection molding company. He's got a single bread and butter product they make, but he's always looking for new ideas. Is there a way for people to easily connect with manufacturers in the USA? My dads shop is r

What if I'm in the car and it says 32 miles and I ask the BMW sales guy if we'll make it 60mi. He says, yeah, it is a 100k car and has a new engine you've never used before, it's just the cold weather which as it warms up will cause the rea

I love collaboration while planning and talking about how / why to implement something; however, when I want to actually build that idea, I'm typically much faster when I just throw on some headphones and go for it. Admittedly, I've never p

Has there been any talk about merging Package Control into the app out of the box for v3? When I tell people how much I love ST2, Package Control is definitely responsible for some of that love.

Being focused in a particular aspect of programming isn't a bad thing. If you are focused on front-end work, knowing probability probably isn't going to change much.

"This would be an MVP of your idea. Without this, it's nice, but it's generally useless." But you've pointed out at least 5 new features. Let's say they add all of them and it fails.. Could they have learned that with only 4? 3? 1, new feat

I was thinking of a fixed gear bike. It can operate in both directions. One direction has handlebars. Designers shouldn't be expected to support efficiency on the side they didn't put the bars.

The fact is the Chrome efficiently runs many tabs. This guy wants an extreme use case to be primarily supported or the browser must suck. Supporting it would be a waste of developer time. If they run out of ways to make Chrome faster and ha

It's not blaming the user. The user in this case is using the browser in an unintended way. It it therefore the users' own fault if the browser doesn't hold up. If I want to ride my bike facing the wrong direction, it's not the fault of the

Check out this article for a great explanation of using the cache manifest http://www.alistapart.com/articles/application-cache-is-a-do... There are quirks, sure, but it's actually designed for asset caching, unlike localStorage

But that's not the point. Let's say MS rolled V8 and Webkit into IE. They still get to build their own UI/ux and get to set the default search engine to Bing. They start contributing to webkit and everything gets faster. There are plenty of

You say "clearly want" but I you don't know that. You are making an assumption about what "everyone" wants based on what you want, or what you think is important. Maybe this demand goes beyond yourself to your friends (I mean hey, they're y

But that's my point really. Why does the site's owner need to be verified at all? I believe we should have a SSL cert that only enforces the encryption but makes no claims about the server's owner or that any transaction is guaranteed up to

You say "next couple of years". IE6 was released in 2001 and while it's finally on it's way out, you will run into people who want it supported. So by next couple of years, do you mean 10 years after IE8 was released which would be 2018 we'

Not all apps use native controls. Not all apps should be built on PhoneGap. At my company, we need to build apps rapidly. By rapid, I mean 1 week for a testable product. I have a app skeleton that implements backbone.js and some "native" cs

I think it's only newsworthy in this space - where, as some of us are the ones responsible for these systems - we are trying to learn why this happened in order to prevent it. You know, learn from others mistakes and all.

Agreed - I had my own implementation of something like Backbone out of a frustration with all the other frameworks. BB is just so dead straightforward that it really does get out of the way and let's you do things the way you want.

3d Printing is better suited for prototyping and Injection molding is where you take it once you need a bunch of parts made because a 3d print can take minutes/hours, while an injection molded part takes seconds.

Ripple ( http://ripple.tinyhippos.com/ ) does a pretty good job. You can get an extension for Chrome. It will simulate PhoneGap events and extend JS api's to support what iOS and Android should have. Kind of clunky but pretty useful.
