It's not twice the cost of rooms on craigslist in the same neighborhood. Those require a lease, a deposit, setting up and paying for utilities etc. etc. etc. If you want to compare it to something, compare it to airbnb listings - and this i

Cool thanks. You guys might consider putting some type of forum or something on your site, people could post looking for people. Bunk beds sounds like a little much for me personally but it would be cool to rent my own room in a house fille

Does anybody know of a good site to find roommates/room for rent with other tech-minded people? If there isn't one, somebody should make it! Would be cool to live in a house with 3,4,5 others all working on startups - but how to find them i

Where HTML5 is concerned, Chrome is by far the most buggy browser. It's unfortunate because over 50% of our users are using it now.

From the article: 1/10 PM's to Engineers and 500 engineers = 50 PM's. That's not an entirely small amount for Facebook since they don't have a zillion different products and features that need to be owned, like a company like Microsoft or G

"...Facebook...exist to make their shareholders rich. And yet we seem to think that they exist to make cool products," Zuck specifically said this isn't true in his letter to shareholders. They make money so they can build, they don't build

Certainly not. There are issues where there are large groups of people on both sides of an issue, even here on HN. That is where the best discussion takes place. What I'm saying is that wandering into a bar frequented by Dodger fans decked

One way to look at it is that arguing against the 'hivemind' is not tolerated. Having run several communities myself, I offer the counterpoint: People arguing against the crowd, even when the crowd is wrong, usually manifests itself as what

Startups create the future, not companies like IBM. In the context of my comment, people in the orbit of world-changing startups are the ones that matter. You make some interesting points though. Good post.

It's ironic you would make this post while at the same time participating in the addition of a bunch of noise to an otherwise pretty great thread.

I think you are underestimating the impact of being well known on HN for something like that. Nearly everybody who matters reads this site at least sometimes.

Spoken like a true PR person. Telling every bootstrapped startup to get a professional PR person is silly. The whole purpose of articles like this is so that they can make due without one in the beginning.

Bookmarked! Great work. Thanks. I'll add one thing that I've found so far: They can take a long time to respond. One site got back to us several weeks later. A few days or more is very common. Of course no response at all is by far the most

Fundamental Attribution Error is a very real thing that definitely applies to SV startup culture. To put it in simpler terms, luck is a far more important factor than skill in determining whether any given entrepreneur or startup succeeds.

The US has nothing to do with this. Sweden is trying to have him extradited from the UK for a sexual assault charge.

I used it back in the day and liked it. Other than being used to Basecamp, I don't really see why anybody would choose it over Asana in 2012 though. Given the choice between a free Basecamp and Asana it would still be an easy decision.
