Maybe dumb question but why is keeping a million booleans in one process un-scalable? That's only 125KB of memory which can easily live inside CPU cache and be operated on atomically.

Any hints on how to even begin looking into this? There's a plethora of content on starting SaaS projects but can't say I've ever come across any for hardware.

Not near a computer to try this out but I'd be surprised if you couldn't get a huge speed up by selecting the whole file into a real table first and querying against that. DuckDB should be able to better vectorize operations then

This is excellent — do you have any content around the performance affect here over using SQLite directly? I could see DuckDB's engine being faster for some cases but the SQLite storage format might hinder it. Curious if there's a

Are we certain that it's _not_ a decent choice for a typical web app? I'm tempted to swap it into one of mine and see how it behaves. Even if some operations are internally slower, that might be offset by having zero network laten

When in doubt, just use postgres. It can handle everything you might want from either MySQL or MongoDB and take you to a scale where you can afford to pay someone to figure out a more appropriate stack for your needs

Not talking about spark clusters anywhere here. I wouldn't be surprised if that's similar in cost to snowflake. What I'm talking about is snowflake vs a $50 EC2 instance running DuckDB reading data from S3. Try it out sometim
