Let’s play this out. A company fires all the SE’s and GPT-4 takes over their place. Who will be there to ask the right questions? Middle management? Who can validate it spit out what you actually want? Project managers? Who will determine w

The goal posts absolutely have moved. They even changed the word AI to AGI. Just look at the movie AI, it’s about a kid who is a robot who wants to be human. 20+ years ago AI meant what AGI means today.

I’ve tried to explain it the same way to my friend who is dabbling in Cyrpto. I think he even changed a 401k allocation to something Crypto-ish. He likes gambling too and I try to tell him it’s the same.

Not even close to being true. I’m forced at times to get certifications for enterprise-y tools and software. Many networking engineers need a Cisco cert to get started. Same with a lot of security analysts. If you’re working in Defense you’

There’s a big difference between bycatch you can’t keep and being required to throw away all bycatch, I’m presuming that’s what you mean. NOAA states: >Fishermen sometimes catch and discard animals they do not want, cannot sell, or are n

I will fact check your baseless claim. Since 2013 there have been 71 banks fail according to the FDIC's bank failures in brief Infograph. Those 71 banks had assets totaling 23,399.20 million (or 23 billion). SVB had asses totaling 209,

The last bank that was taken over by the FDIC was Almena State Bank in 2020 that had 65 million in assets. This does not play out regularly.

We do similar things in the US. AT&T doesn’t allow you to use you own modem and neither does Comcast on certain plans. Most allow a “bridge” mode but I’ve had to do with a DMZ before.

I’ve seen a lot more sub €100k programmers respond with salaries on HN and Reddit than ones close to €100k. A quick google search says the average is 65k in Berlin and around 60k in the UK. London is probably higher for sure.

No it’s the CEOs job to hire people who know like a CFO and everyone else in finance. Lots of companies make short investments with extra cash. No need to put everything in a single bank account.
