A better question is why do you feel the need to “stay on top of slack” during your non work hours? Having entirely separate devices is BY FAR the best thing I have done for my mental health and productivity. Same as other posters here.

I am not sure which part you are stating is not correct. The intention is to contribute after-tax income. For your situation, a better move would be for you to do a Roth Conversion of the money in your traditional-IRA to move it to Roth IRA
