Surely there is middle ground here- I agree with the general sentiment though; the perfect need not be the enemy of the good.

Yes it is a systemic issue. A cursory search for academic research fraud will reveal this. Some fraudsters are very high profile. There are all kinds of perverse incentives; prestige, grant money, not wanting to waste time with ‘useless’ ne

Their high speed rail is a propaganda instrument. It is meant to be a high profile asset that makes their whole country look good, but it is a failure-prone money pit.

This seems incredibly naive. You seem to think a longer lifespan will somehow make a brutal tyrant more caring, but I think the cruel will likely just get more monstrous with age. A long life means power must be held that much more tightly:

Sure, why not. American public schools are terrible self-protecting bureaucratic monstrosities. I would be fine with scrapping their funding and reworking the whole system.

I agree, that is alarming. ‘Technology is too powerful to let the peasants have access’ is the opinion of a tyrant.

Even if the warring factions agreed that the outcome of the E-sport competition would be binding… do we really want major conflicts to be determined by whoever is best at Counterstrike? That doesn’t sound ideal.

Yes. I am in my mid thirties, and live in Texas. In my youth I used to see fireflies, damselflies, bright red and black flightless wasps colloquially called ‘cow killers.’ All vanishingly rare now- I think I saw a single lonely firefly this

‘Non consensual porn’ is vague and could be used to describe violent rape vids, which was likely the intent. Fabricated images of public figures is not the same thing.

I am not sure it’s possible. Part of what defines addiction is that overpowers the will, which isn’t safe. It also is typically a long term decent, a series of poor decisions in the grip of a disease. Not easy to model.

I talk about politics with people I trust. I do not talk about politics with people who I can’t have an earnest, good faith discussion with, because it will almost certainly be a titanic waste of time.
