I know we're currently in the Church of Paul Graham, where college is useless and it's all about the startup grind. But college is known to lead to better outcomes on average for people who go to college, and there is an intrinsic

I mean, 30-35% of the country is still evangelical and evangelicals love talking about religion. You could randomly choose a state and the GP's experience is probably true. Texas, Kentucky, and Ohio... but in my experience Arkansas and

This sounds about right. When I burned out at my last job it took me 2 months to recover. I camped out of a car in that time, and removing myself from my usual environment helped a lot. A one month litmus test is a good call, IMO.

If it's so good, why are they unionizing? But yes, there are worse jobs. Florida min wage was 8.25 before 2021. So nearly half the Amazon wage.

They keep raising money. Might as well hire more and pay better. I'm blown away that after nearly 2 decades, search is effectively unfunded at this company.

LOL! Well time to continue using "site:www.reddit.com" on Google, then. I find the old search from old.reddit.com to be way better than the newer search (but I haven't tried this newest search linked in the thread).

This might get me crucified on HN, since many here are from developed countries, but I would argue we're just cresting the hill of late stage adoption for the Internet. Like, 40% of the world still does not have Internet!

Really depends on where you live. In South Florida, the roadside and farm-affiliated vendors really do sell higher quality product for less money. I have picked up better quality mangoes off the side of the road than I can buy at a supermar

I'm vouching for this comment, because it's an entirely reasonable thought that crippling debt and housing costs lead to apathy (graphs 3 "Do you care who wins?"). I do not believe it leads to supporting Russia, though.

People with wealthy parents are more likely to be wealthy later in life. People who perform wage labor and do not have inheritances will not have as much wealth. More news at 11, thank you for attending my TED Talk.

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, but the concept dates back a while when we consider centralized applications. The bit gold architecture dates back to 98' and is arguably a direct ancestor to the BTC whitepaper, but o

Poetic that the top post right now is (partially) about how science communication over-simplifying figures results in a popular misunderstanding of science, leading readers to believe that conducting research is easier than it actually is.
