A useful approach is to learn 95% of the language from K&R, and then refer to the newer standards for the incremental changes. If there is a book as good as K&R and covers the new ideas, I'm interested to learn about it! :-)

The C language can be best learned from "The C Programming Language, 2nd Ed" [1], also known as "K&R book". Pair it with excellent notes by Steve Summit [2], and you don't need any other book to master C. [1] h

For a start, teach kids to think critically and reject anything that is shoved down their throats as "the truth". Science and religion included. ;-)

Per my understanding, climate-science is not yet settled, with varying and wide-ranging opinions among scientists. I certainly do not want politicians to take "urgent" actions based on incomplete data and evidence, since any such

Rent control benefits no one, nor the landlord and certainly not the tenant. However, it is a classic "virtue signaling" used by politicians to advance their career. This is no exception.

"Technical facts and data overrule opinions and personal preferences." So true, so true! Now if teams pay careful attention to this statement, the Code Review Guidelines can be shortened by an order of a magnitude! ;-)

The whole article seems childish and a pointless rant, to be honest! All software in cars that is not mission critical will take a long time to mature... calling a car crap because its website is non-functional... seriously? :-)

"Operating Systems: Three Easy Pieces" is a more modern book to OS concepts, explained with real source code as opposed to algorithms, and is regularly updated. http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~remzi/OSTEP/ (On

I believe it is equally important to determine the level of abstraction for the documentation, such that updating it is an infrequent task (essentially, every line of code change should not trigger a document change). It is easier said than

Yes, this works. In theory. In practice, a simple model is needed that everyone can follow and implement consistently. That, does not exist. Lookup "threat modeling" and you will see how abstract a notion it is (even your comment

I believe cost-cutting was the real-driver and everything else was bravo sierra. Pretty much everyone in an open office wears a headphone to shut-out distraction, and prefers emails/chats to face-to-face.
