Not sure of a "vulnerability", would like to hear more about that. Unless the "repeat after me" feature is a vulnerability or it learns to copy too much from input? Here's a small sample: http://imgur.com

Technically I agree with you, but at some point you get so used to being optimized that going back is just as bad as getting sick. The most successful nootropics like caffeine and modafinil easily become long-term medicine for the problem o

In one of my previous houses (in Washington), we were on a hill with several other homes sharing the main private drive up the hill. We had a centralized apartment style mailbox with a slot for each house, and two big slots for larger packa

The emergency response domain is what you use when you've got nothing better in mind for an application of your hardware. It's a dead-end. (Except I guess for Murphy.)

Entertainment is a tough business to be in in general. There are plenty of good songs out there no one listens to. Mobile games suck for more reasons than the present most profitable business model and I don't think the industry is at

The phrase "reduce reuse recycle" is actually a pyramid of effectiveness. The best thing is to reduce your consumption entirely, which in this case translates to not producing or buying new hardware you don't need.

I guess the point of the question is really a flippant "why is this on Hacker News?" You can call it defining away if you want, I don't think it's charitable to assume "party line" means "what the peer rev

That might be what cautious scientists have been saying, but that's way too complex for a party line. To rephrase my original question, since when haven't (according to news organizations) scientists been warning about perilous

IANAL also. But it's important to distinguish a copy (which is just more or less copying what you read in C) vs a derivative work (a work that could not have been done or would have been done noticeably differently in the absence of th

We (the human species) have done better than (modern) prisons; prisons are a compromise that makes the system of building and maintaining orderly society less effective and more expensive than simply hanging the bastards but in theory that

Emotional damage is interesting. In many senses it's entirely one's own fault, if one feels emotionally damaged / offended / distraught. But it's an uncommon mental discipline to get yourself to feel differently. Th

I have. Of course I have my own personal code, as most every man does, but that does not always align with the law, and so where they conflict, rational calculations are made. I like to think that my code is good enough that in a society of

What's your chess ELO rating? I gave up on going deeper into chess because the hardcore aspects of memorizing openings and always repeating so many against other skilled players bored me. Grandmasters are just autistic filing cabinets.
