I don't really understand what this is offering but long-term open source contribution seems like a mug's game (outside of positions where you're paid to contribute). The argument is that it will supposedly get you enough not

We spent the last few decades dismantling whatever shambles of a social safety net we had, and we don't give a shit about people who can't afford to live. We say "get a job", and we just don't care.

> One thing about millennials is certain: Their habits are the straw man of choice for explaining anything in decline. Jeez, ain't that the truth.

I thought it made good points. I don't really care that it's on Medium, not sure why that's an issue?

Also, pay them well. I'm sure they just forgot to mention this beyond a very brief aside, so I thought I'd throw that in. Probably just an honest mistake. I'm sure there's no particular reason they didn't feel like

I wish I could be more specific but I looked at this for the site I work on and quite a bit of it is incorrect.

It's good! I paid for it because I use it constantly every day. It's a great tool and the price is reasonable imo. My company has also bought a license for a couple dozen seats.

Yes, I've hated this change ever since I got my last iPhone. It's a pain and doesn't actually improve anything. I bought a bunch of those little dongles because I always lose them.

Because it seems like a nightmare based on many things, but, again, you always get the people that are like "my team is amazing and full of geniuses who ship everything on time and never disagree". Look, if you want to work there,

Yeah, you get to be someone's boss (as in telling them what to do) without all the icky parts of actually being a manager. The structure of tech companies now is so bonkers, the person who tells you what to do isn't your manager,

Maybe... I work somewhere that works very hard to provide nice UX for people. It's a shitshow. But I'd still much rather have this job than work for Amazon. Basically the longer I work in this industry the more thoroughly convince

I've heard so many bad things about it. Someone always eventually chimes in with "it depends what team you're on" but somehow I don't find that very comforting. My point is programmers already shouldn't want to

Yeah, text selection alone would probably be enough for me not to do this. It's insanely bad on iOS, and you need to do it all the time if you write code. Constantly.

And who built the company that let that slide? Who came up with the practices that led to such a failure? Et cetera.

Public service billboards, ads on buses, things like that. They don't claim it directly- they imply it by saying that smoking is bad, but so is vaping, so don't let your kids vape. Things like that. Look at this: http://

Yes, there is so much public material implying that e-cigs are basically just as bad. It seems so irresponsible to me. I think in part it's driven by how low-status smoking is these days, to the point that some people even hate the op

I think the pet thing is more balanced than a straight up anti-perk, because in situations where everyone is happy with it, it can be very nice to have. But it's certainly not for everyone, and you don't want to make someone feel

Nice to see attacks that require the vigilance of banks and financial networks. I'm tired of seeing advisories on how consumers can detect and avoid card skimmers. Your network infrastructure is not our responsibility, and neither is y

Continues to amaze me that this never comes up in diversity or discrimination talks. When you do that yearly harassment training they touch on it for about 10 seconds, but that's it.
