That is what I normally use. ccache is great! With a unity build its usefulness is a bit diminished, but it's still great for switching back and forth between branches.

We do use a unity build yeah. Without it would be way way longer, maybe 5 minutes+. As for removing templates, there are a few places where we specifically opted to use custom macros instead of std::variant, for compile time reasons, but mo

I work on the video game factorio, which is a c++ project. On a 9900k a rebuild takes about a minute, so it's pretty sizeable but not something ridiculous like oracle db or unreal engine. I tried using zapcc on it, and it was a complet

I feel really quite blessed by my Irish passport. No visas needed, I can live and work in any EU country, schengen country or the UK, which represents almost all of the desirable countries in the world. And we've never been at war with

I've always felt that vliw might have been a victim of this. I'm not super knowledgeable on it though, apart from being familiar with the disaster that was itanium.

If this was the case, they wouldn't have claimed it was a bug. Besides, big tech companies have lost the benefit of the doubt.

I think that's pretty reasonable. Most people at the end of the day are available whenever via a phone call. But if you use it for something trivial, they will be pissed. Seems like a decent system to me.

This guy is an internet detective :D Could be done as a mod via the lua api, if you really wanted (would need an external relay program to communicate with the voice thing, like eg clusterio does).

As someone living not in the US, I feel the same. I see all sorts of giveaways and deals (ie, free echo dot if you buy a newspaper subscription), but I've never met anyone who uses one. Never seen one in a friends house. Here it seems

I had a .ie (Ireland) email from university, and that allowed educational freebies on Dropbox at least. Another interesting aspect no one seems to be discussing is that I get to keep that email for life. Is that not common elsewhere?

I have found that some multipart rar files fail to extract properly with 7zip. Most are fine though, but I normally have the unrar-nonfree package installed for the few that don't work.

Default gnome on Ubuntu 20.04. How much free ram do you normally have? If you don't have enough to buffer the whole operation, then it's not a problem.

I'm talking about dragging files with the GUI file manager, I shouldn't have to use any commands :(. What I end up doing is using a "watch" on some command I can't remember that shows overall dirty pages.

I guess it could, but I haven't tried yet. It uses SDL and opengl, which I gather are well supported. You'd still need to load the original assets though, so it would maybe be more useful as a demo with some new assets.
