This also doesn't have to be an either-or sort of scenario. It's pretty easy to mix C++ and Java using the Java Native Interface. It's not going to win a beauty pageant, but it's not rocket science either. My company's web services are ex

You've really got to hit the jackpot to get up to 2000/request per second (assuming you don't already have a high traffic site). Assuming about 20 requests per pageview, that's more than a quarter million pageviews per hour. I've had thi

Incidentally, despite the oft quoted, "Bill Gates would be a broader guy if he had dropped acid once", Bill Gates basically did admit to taking LSD in a 1994 interview: PLAYBOY: Ever take LSD? GATES: My errant youth ended a long time ago.

I sense some intentional stubbornness here. Just because you don't invite people over to your place doesn't meant that I don't. In fact, I do, regularly. Also, if you put the pieces together, the fact that you have a device around th

That's partly true, but there are some subtleties not conveyed by such: If a VC is investing in a seed round, it's effectively just an option on a later investment. It's the ante, not a bet. If you're investing from a $1 billion fund, it'
