Couldn't agree more with the first statement but add to that unmaintainable mess and spaghetti code Rock Star = praised, promoted, highly visible, and in management's view infallible.

So when you talk about the ideas posted to these sites are they the type of ideas that would fall under trading or are they more of the idea that would fall under core concepts for a fund? Like anyone who hangs around HN I've got ideas for

What interesting little tid-bits you've dropped in this comment. I wonder, could you follow up with a more full-fledged article? I don't see your blog linked to your account on here but I'd love to read something like this.

This, unfortunately, is a losing war. With no mechanism in place for the "winning" side to stop the "losing" side from trying again, often with the same arguments but different ears, eventually the "loser" will turn into the "winner." Mor

This is a reply to your comment pointing out that you missed one tiny fact and disagreeing with your comment on the basis of that fact, regardless of your arguments merits.

I love government contracting. First we pick a schedule, then we pick a technology, then we decide who gets the contract and who will supervise the execution of said contract. The best part? When something gets delivered, no matter how s

The great part about the JVM is that you can chose the language which fits the problem. If something needs the fine-grain control of Java, use Java. If another part would benefit greatly from the concise and expressive Scala idioms, use S

Nope, I don't think it's unfair that the people who earn more pay more. In fact, I'm for it. However, what I'm against is even a small group not paying for it. This "small" group right now is nearly half of the population. The argument f

You do realize that 48% of all Americans pay $0 dollars in Federal Income tax. The top 10% pay 40% of the pie. I'm for the tax cuts expiring but I do also agree with the whole "equality" argument. I'm of the generation where I'll probabl

I doubt it was the developers who are responsible for the merging who came up with an 18 month estimate. Invariably it's not going to happen on time or if the 18 month milestone is hit, it'll stay alpha for quite some time. JDK7 + merging
