You can do it by any number if you toss in addition. If you’re multiplying by a constant, you can factor it out. For example multiply by 40 (coincidentally the number of characters per line on common microcomputers), you could shift to mult

Not sure what your requirements are. My point about 4 line dependency is to point out that the barrier to entry into FX is low. What you are doing I would consider unconventional, as demonstrated by all of the hoops you're jumping thro

It was. Even before it was more "bundled" with the JDK than "part of Java". But, to be honest, that's a real nit. It's a standalone dependency, it's 4 lines in a POM file, it doesn't drag the internet

Well, Swing is still bundled with Java. Netbeans uses the "Flat Look and Feel" and looks ok to me. I find Swing a lot more work compared to FX. JavaFX used to be bundled with Java, but was removed. Some JDK distributions bundle FX

For me the biggest difference is that handyman mistakes tend to tangible, and potentially worse to repair than the original problem. Software is easy to reset back and clean the slate for another go. It's this kind of thing that deters

Souplantation was like this. You could go through the salad bar, the soup, and bread line as much as you want. But on the salad bar, most of the actual proteins (I should say non-vegetable proteins -- all the garbanzos you can eat!) were an

Our colloquial term for the Chinese buffets was "All you can stand Chinese". I haven't been to one in years. A singular issue with Chinese food today is the seeming race to the bottom. They're all as commoditized and che

The quality of the time is very important. I used to have a 1hr+ commute each way, but it was 70MPH on open highway. This is in stark contrast to a 1hr commute in gridlock traffic. My current commute (which I don't do daily) is 1:15, 1

This is a nit for me in the PDF experience. The browsers I use tend to have no difficulty in rendering the PDF in the browser, but every now and again, you click on a PDF and now it's in your Downloads folder and opening up your OSs PD

I’m late to the game about this. So I’ll ask a stupid question. As a contrived example, what happens if you feed the LoTR books, the Hobbit, the Silmarillion, and whatever else is germane, into an LLM? Is there a base, empty, “ignorant” LLM
