Google was able to portray an image of being good and free and transparent early on in its existence. This image still lingers from their PR efforts but the reality is that Google is one of the most agressive corporations out there. Let's n

Does look like so. No judge I know would spend even 5 minutes on a misdemeanor case such as this one.

It is amazing that a judge would even listen to this in a non-criminal and minor offense case. Most places I know it'd just be dismissed and the fine upheld.

I assume most of us here at HN do some sort of computer development work. In computers, languages aren't simple, human readable, though modern languages try to be as readable as possible. Why is that? It's because you can't have ambiguity.

I've been in the computer business all my life. I've learned something: there is no place on Earth where ridiculous amounts of money is spent on ideas that may or may not make sense like it is on tech. I've seen companies spend millions on

I've gotten so used to them on my shelf, I rarely pay attention. I just go for the camel book(Perl) or the cow book(C). A classy trademark, love it - and the Oreilly quality has never dropped. Congratulatiosn and keep the awesome titles com

This is bullshit. People adopt languages because interesting things are made in them. The most interest I've found in lisp has been Emacs, because it's an awesome editor. If more Emacs-level projects in lisp were out there I bet lisp would

Hi, I've only been using DuckDuckGo lately and I love it. Search quality is so impressive and the respect for privacy is very welcome. I hope it is able to maintain this independent feel and not sell out like others did.

Google doesn't use patents and that's a great boon to their benefit. Google makes money from self-made technology and uses no other patents, that's what matters. Microsoft is evil.

Cassandra is way underrated. It is a great advance in DBRMS, just not relational. I've put it to great use and it's an amazing database system. Searching is badly needed, regular expression searching by column values would make it kick Orac

Anyone seriously considering the web browser as a platform for future 3d gaming is, of course, in a state of sin. (stolen from Jon Von Neumann's famous random number quote)
