Sometimes titles are improved by moderator intervention--other times it's the opposite. Sometimes titles lose bias, but sometimes they become inaccurate or generic-to-the-point-of-madness.

This isn't really substantive feedback about the language, but this is a magnificent bit of fun, even if I can't figure out any time I'd want to use it :)

It does miss a trivial optimization. For example, fac n = product [1..n] can be replaced with fac n = product [2..n] and will still do the right thing for n == 0, n == 1. Saves you a multiplication!

They do say "It can access that data 20 times faster than the best breed of flash memory" but a rate of 17 MB/s means this is incorrect.

Here is a page mirrored at archive.org, now 404ing on Apple's website, that will provide at least a little more information on Bill the Cat. http://web.archive.org/web/20130723144507/http://www.apple

There is some precedent for the notation (a, b) or <a, b> or [a, b] meaning "some function applied to a and b". For example, inner products or commutators (for a group, the commutator [a, b] of a and b is equal to a^-1 b^-1

If the aim is golf, it's probably best to keep #" ". If the aim is accuracy, we might get better results by using #"[^\w]+". Though that does nasty things to words like "it's". Edit: Actually, we can

Oh, crap, you're right. I read that as f''(x) must have the same sign as f(x).

f(x) = e^(-x) works too :) But the point is to draw a function with these properties. You just have to have a smooth curve that approaches 0 asymptotically and is concave up. No worries about graphing any particular function!

Oh, absolutely. But this seems to indicate the debt repayment math being done to support the author's point is badly off.

The strange thing is that if you just say "newer technologies" it's both a simpler sentence and less obviously wrong. (As someone's pointed out already, it's still wrong because Python's comparatively older.)

We're not talking about performance loss but a relative performance difference. It's at least possible that MySQL might've introduced performance gains that MariaDB didn't get. I have no idea whether this is the case.
