Create a blog and start building a reputation. Interact on forums. You really don't need to go to elance or other such sites.

Can anyone tell me what new features can still be added to jquery? It looks pretty feature complete to me. I wish they focused more on jquery-ui, as I find that a bit lacking at the moment.

Those seem like entirely different results though. Seems all books with "wrox" in the title are deleted. If you want another example, you can try "harry potter" or "sitepoint".

Love the site, but they seriously need to clean up the amount of illegal ebooks being shared. I mean, http://www.scribd.com/search?query=wrox&x=0&y=0 says it all doesn’t it. Wouldn’t even be hard to filter this out, anything uploa

This may be because I'm not logged in, but you don't show me any buttons to create a new community. Especially when there are zero communities in my area, such a link would be beneficial.

I agree, get rid of the "clusters" name. But not only that, the search results page is too complex. What is "rank (modified)"? What is the "cluster popularity"? The entire concept of the cluster chart is probably something most parents aren

Invest in the domain name, most domains that are taken are by domain scrapers and are used as ad landing pages. Most of these domains are for sale at the right price. Do not buy the typical web 2.0 sounding domain name. The time of $9.95 do

Uh yeah, that already exists: http://www.stumbleupon.com/toolbar/ (random page) This won't take off at all. If you still want to pursue this idea, least you could do is add a top iframe with some info on the site, comments, etc.. Edit: w

Oops, excuse me for not reading the full description :) Still, I think you should show minimal ads to logged in users too. Maybe the adsense ad link format (plain links). When something is free, users should expect to see some ads.

Play with the position and style of that ad (if you don't want to ad more..) So put it in the middle of the article, under the article, etc.. Measure what works best. Even better would be to have it randomly change color (you can set this w

If you hate ads, you should just show more of them to non-logged in users.. It can even be an incentive to get them to sign up if you mention it on the site :) Do you know the % of pageviews between logged in users and guests?

Very nice, but can you skip the first step? You have to send "ping" first? If I use a service multiple times, I would already know what input the app needed. For example, "Weather NY".
