One of the main things that prevents me from doing the same is health insurance. Will I be paying $2000 per month instead of $200 that I'm paying now for a good coverage. What are my options? Can anyone shine some lights on this issue? (I

I don't think so. People will stop having offsprings (and even sex) well before that because they are immortal, even if they die, they can be resurrected because they have copies. Provided, human race doesn't get destroyed by itself or AI

I have a small one from them as a NS server and has no issue at all. However their bandwidth allocation (40G for 256m plan) is not enough for pretty much anything else.

For VPS, I recommend burst.net, specifically their XEN 1Gb ram plan. Their price structure is kinda strange, 0.5G is $7.95, 1G is $12.95, 1.5G is 24.95. So 1G plan is a no brainer. I have 2 of these, one in their PA Datacenter, the othe

Mandarin is not totally unrelated to Manchu. There are a lot of loan words in Mandarin from Manchu, for example, 姑娘, 罗嗦, 邋遢, 马虎, 麻利, 别扭, and lots of other common phrases. More importantly, Mandarin is heavily influenced by Manchu in other

When I was in China, i often ride in friends' cars. The first thing I do when I get in cars is buckling up, and I'm often ridiculed for fearing of death (i really am). Twice I sit on the passenger side and tried to put the seatbelt plate

Don't worry, the government will never let the crash happen. Plus they are trying "tightening" the housing now. Stagnating might be a better word: neither let price fall nor let it rise too fast.

I'm using Tornado instead of Flask. When I was evaluating Flask vs. Tornado, I found Tornado to be much faster than Flask. More importantly, Tornado is much more straightforward. I actually prefer putting all URL in one place (tornado) ins

Great! I learned a few scraping tricks from this article. In the past, all I did was using "time.sleep(3)" to pace my scrapping so it stayed off the scrapee's radar screen.

There's an error in slide 7, where it lists "other names to know": the Yelp equivalent in china is dianping.com, not diandian (a tumblr clone). Unlike others on the list, dianpian is not a copycat, it's started a year earlier than Yelp.
