Ah SLMR is OLX. Mustang Software (Wildcat! BBS) bought Qmodem and SLMR (and renamed the latter to OLX).

I'm a big fan of DuckDB and I do geospatial analysis, mostly around partitioning geographies (into Uber H3 hexagons), calculating Haversine distances, calculating areas of geometries, figuring out which geometry a point falls in, etc.

This brought back memories. I remember dialling into BBSes using Qmodem, downloading QWKs (compressed email packets) from “conferences” (similar to newsgroups). I would read/reply offline using OLX (Offline Express, a QWK reader also p

I remember eagerly anticipating ZFS for desktop hard disks. I seem to remember it never took off because memory requirements were too high and payoffs were insufficient to justify the trade off.

In many developing countries, I would say it's the reverse. Undergrad is actually "necessary" for most average people -- it's the minimum bar for white collar employment; the only exceptions are people who are have rare,

Yes battery is definitely a limitation. I’m able to get 15-16 hours on my Series 7 between charges. That works for me because I just charge it when I shower and it takes no time. I wonder if for your use case a Watch Ultra might work better

I own mechanical watches and had the hardest time switching to an Apple Watch. But one thing sold me on it. Apple Pay. It’s so convenient to be able to wrist tap things without whipping out my phone. I can pay for things in 1 second. With e

macOS is a BSD. If you're used to Linux (I am) it feels there are lots of quality of life changes, but I realized it's because I'm used to Linux. The OS itself is fine.

Does your Roborock get stuck on electrical cords? I have a Roomba that used to be able to detect cords and roll over them, but at some point it ceased to do that -- and jobs would consistent failed due to it getting stuck. I'm too lazy

You can use a conventional vacuum if it has enough suction (most of these dust mite vacuums are rated at 13 kPa, a sweet spot for extraction without damaging fabric), and if you don’t mind using the same vacuum attachment on other surfaces.
