Is there nothing you believe in that you believe so strongly about that you'd like it if everyone else has the same belief? Nothing? Or as simple as "I loved watching X tv program, you should check it out too"? Surely there i

I'm not sure what the alternative is. You can pick up a newspaper for 20p,or a "quality" newspaper for 50p (UK rates). Would I pay 50p a day to browse a news site? At the moment, no, because I can get my news for free elsewhe

The Internet needs to be better than being almost entirely propped up by the advertising industry. Surely even they know their day will come. It will, won't it?

Yes it is terrible. Annoying and frustrating. But fuck Air BNB. Go somewhere else and ensure your friends/family do the same. That's what I'd do if I got shitty service from anyone.

Has the gp edited their comment because from what I can see, they said exactly that. "Airbnb controlls zero real-estate, it's a coordination and payment mechanism, that's all." How is that different to what you said?

I'm not experiencing this on either desktop or mobile. I'm not a member of reddit so am not signed in. I can view comment threads and other content perfectly fine.

The company I work for is distributed. We don't have a central office. I work from a shared office space and share a room with people in a variety of industries, and so I get my daily fix of "people" through that. I'm al

That's fine. The year is almost over and plenty of other developers can justify using PHP for many things in 2020.

I think my two replies to your comments are the only ones I've made on the subject of laravel in my entire time of being on hacker news. So no, I'm not here to defend laravel.

Trying to do that myself. I'm mostly detached these days but there's a few things that do hang around (Google Calendar in particular - haven't found a good enough substitute for it) and we're a little Google heavy at wor

What if you have 500 pages which need to have font-bold replacing with font-italic? Or more? 1000 pages? Sure, you can probably write a script but if you name your elements semantically, you potentially only have to change it once.

And therein lies the problem. You don't add classes just for styling. This is terrible practice that I thought we'd stopped doing.

You're naming stuff as a comment or a testimonial or whatever else because that's what they are. The html defines what a component is and the css then describes what a comment or a testimonial looks like. You seem to have it the w

You add a class called font-bold which adds a bold style to the element. Your client decides the element should be italic not bold. You then have to go back and change all your bold elements to use font-italic.

What kind of era are you talking about? Early to mid 90s? I'd agree. But after, for me anyway, around '98 texting was absolutely ubiquitous and it was absolutely the primary method of communication between everyone I know.
