If you think about it, if you want to do a startup, you basically have to become a psychopath, because you constantly have to tell yourself that everyone who is getting a job is doing it wrong, which is 99% of people, you have to be willing

It's not that hard to get to know someone who knows someone at SV Angel. If you have something to show, just write an investor or entrepreneur you like if he can give you advice on something on your startup and they will surely be will

What do you mean? AirBnB is for renting out stuff that is actually yours, Uber is for getting something to you with the press of a button.

Having worked in a hospital for a whole year I can agree. Hospitals are the perfect example for something that you thought as a kid would be handled by ultra-smart people, doctors who love their jobs and who know best how to take care of pa

Adding to this, for every new app, there are three new apps you can spin out of it. Take AirBnb, now there are dozens of AirBnb for X models. Uber? Dozens of Uber for Xs as well. AirBnb for boats, office spaces, parking lots. They all worke

I'm not sure as no system is 100% secure. It's only a matter of how high you want to set the bar, but this bar is very low imho.

How a company with $163M in funding is not able to put just a normal encryption into their app or hire someone who knows about encryption is out of my comprehension. We implemented a standard Blowfish encryption in university at a small pro

Really cool write-up and awesome to see a really soft consumer product in YC. It looks like you actually want to take on Craigslist. I think it is definitely possible, however, it would need something really strong like YC behind it, but if

Interesting, I've seen a lot of definitions for a startup now, but none of them really seem to grasp the core of it. Startups have repeatable business models, large growth rates, but Amazon is that and it's not a startup anymore.

This is huge. Social payments could be the biggest business model for Facebook and even blast their revenues way past $100B. Lots of startups, many great ones have attempted it before, but all failed due to lack of traction. Facebook doesn&

It does sound a little silly, I'm using the word "founder" or "startup founder" now, it can replace the word "entrepreneur" around 7 out of 10 times and people get it.
