This is the correct answer in theory , but in practice, I've never seen a company that was very good at paying/promoting people based on output. It is difficult enough to measure output, especially when there's often many is

Is your team quite inexperienced with git, or is there anything inherently unusual about the project? If the team is spending a lot of time dealing with merge conflicts, merging vs rebasing isn't the problem. More than likely, one or m

'not brittle' if you 'manually enter' isn't exactly a glowing review. There's definitely some good with selenium, but I and others find it is often brittle and doesn't catch errors as reliably as would be

Are you specifically targeting better career opportunities? Now is as good a time as ever to be a seasoned Full Stack engineer. Pursuing an MS and shifting specialties seems very expensive. Despite all the support other commenters are givin

Agreed with this completely. People really shouldn't be offended by job titles as they vary so much between companies. Experience and output matter. I can't imagine interviewing someone and asking about the current job title. Ha

Your point is valid but somewhat exaggerated. There should be some companies somewhat in the middle of the two extremes you've laid out. Companies that are reaching product market fit but still have a high level of uncertainty. Note, I

Now, that is the real question. One thing that I'd like to think helps me is being genuinely happy for others' success . This is the easiest to do for your close friends and family, but as you get to fringe friends, acquaintances

That's impressive foresight. Why did Linus make such fanfare about his departure if it was always intended to be so short?

There are so many conspiracy theories around how the story could be true, but seemingly no theories about what happens if the story is false.

I'm not so sure about the lack of funding. A number of startups really start having this issue once they start seeing some traction. Maybe they're actively looking for new or additional senior technical leadership or just scaling
