Wouldn't even talk to them. Try to find ways to observe in a passive manner instead. If you are making software for restaurants, go sit at the restaurant during peak and off hours, and be keen about what's actually going on, down

Job hopping early on in your career to maximize your baseline salary won't affect your career. What may affect your career is the opportunity cost of picking the wrong company (esp Startups) if you had a choice, and the one you didn&#

I agree with you. The truth is, the high performers meet the deadlines with ease, and go beyond them pretty much effortlessly the majority of the time, so holding them accountable doesn't make them scared, it gives them a platform to f

New mobile-first products should consider GraphQL over REST. There's a lot of benefits that you will probably end up doing yourself in a bastardized version of REST anyways, like field restrictions and multiplexing multiple unrelated

I've come to the conclusion that the 3 algorithms on whiteboard interview is generally worthless for determining an engineer's on-the-job performance. Instead, "Build X in 1-2 hours using your computer and resources available

One potential downside is disk space. If you actually want to retain all records, that's going to be an order of magnitude more space if your workload is update-heavy. If it's primarily inserts not a big deal. The other potentia

You can't re-use the UI portion but all the business logic, API calls, stores, socket connections, etc... For Sleeperbot it's 50% code-sharing between desktop / mobile, and then 95% between iOS & Android.

Instagram is the last group that would have problems hiring iOS and Android developers. I'm almost certain that's not the reason for the switch to React Native. The main reason to switch is that the user cannot tell the differenc
