My thoughts exactly. I wish there was a way to filter them out other than downvoting. Something like a "flag as non-constructive" button with a corresponding settings entry, allowing to either not show them at all or change the display styl

AdBlock is the first extension I install in a fresh browser. I never click on ads anyway, so PPC ads are wasted on me. Unless they're large and intrusive, I don't tend to look at them either (banner blindness), so showing them to me doesn't

I use a version of that -- a single system variable identifying the environment and a series of conditional blocks for each environment in the settings.py file: ENVIRONMENT = os.environ.get('ENVIRONMENT', None) if not ENVIRONMENT

I was thinking about that too, and I recall a thread where someone said a good strategy is to release a paid app for iOS and an ad-supported free one for android. That said, top 100 best sold apps here and there being priced quite different

A fair approach would be to allow me to use the thing for a day without "liking" it. Then they could say "Like it so far? Then click the Like button and listen on!" and only after that keep me out if I don't. I don't think they'd get much

A little twist on that I use is setting up three XP IE6 machines and upgrading IE to 7 and 8 in two of them (for IE9 you still need Windows 7). Takes up significantly less disk space and RAM; the downside is you have to repeat the procedure

I don't expect much really, but who knows, maybe I'm totally wrong and it buys me a jet. We'll see. :) I'll probably cook up a blog post about the experience and post it here.
