The problem is that there are a ton of people that do exactly that. I live in New York and over the past year I've dated a string of actresses, some moderately successful (several year soap runs, broadway), some less so (off broadway, guerr

Completely off topic — you worked at Bronto? I did a short (like 1 or 2 day) contract to write a first pass at their Ruby client gem a couple years back. Seemed like nice guys. I get shivers thinking about Ruby and SOAP though. Eesh.

Wow, that's exactly the opposite of my experience. Random middle American towns are a vast, bland expanse of strip malls, big box chain stores, suburban tract housing, and family dining restaurants. The towns that aren't like that are the e

Anchorage could be any random middle american town and it exhibits the same suburban sprawl issues. What problems do you see with the extrapolation?

This. A thousand times, this. Every time I read a post about someone who can't get a date on OKCupid I roll my eyes. Then again, I live in New York so the high population density makes it a usable site. Sure, men outnumber women and women g

All weapons make it easier to kill. We have been on a steady march forward as far as the efficiency of killing goes. We have guns, bombs, etc. . . And the same arguments were made about planes, I'm sure. The pilots are too detached from wha

I feel like the article is mostly empty scaremongering. Drones are inevitable, you can't stop technology marching forward. They may not be a bad thing, however. More drone warfare means fewer soldiers involved in conflict and fewer deaths.

I just want to say that I fondly remember Gramstand from around 2008-9. That was such a nice little cafe to work in.

This is a simple component I put together for our very front end heavy application at Plyfe. Child view handling seems to be a common pain point with Backbone projects so I figured I'd share our solution. It's our first go at it and we'll b

Well, I guess I'm just old enough and ugly enough to call things like I see them. Haskell is a neat language, but it is frustrating to listen to these sorts of brag-posts about the language because they're filled with dangerous hubris. The

Ah, a Haskell circle-jerk waiting to happen and a confession that's really a way to act superior about Haskell's type system. Listen, it's a great language and I've spent a few years deep in it, but I find this post arrogant and not even ac

I would be extremely surprised if that was true. Even if you count not having to own a car or commute as long-distance in New York. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment that is 2550/month and _everything_ is more expensive here. A bottle of wine

That's sort of my point. I mean, getting links to your site isn't exactly a secret, this has been key since Google first came on the scene. Sure, it's hard work to have a reputable site and to promote it correctly, but it's not rocket scien

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time I read something about SEO. I keep expecting there to be more to it or that I'm missing something. Other than that, SEO is just making sure you have reasonably semantic markup and clean URLS. Is

Property prices in Australia are a result of Aussies selling each other properties to generate wealth, financed by loans they can't afford. Private debt in Oz has been insane since the mid 2000s and has only gotten worse. The economy is fin
