I am willing to concede your pedigree as a developer as necessary but I've been writing all manner of languages and environments since 99 and I'm sorry to say there's no revolution here, no battlefield to die on. It's a

So you have 2 versions of the code with a shared contract between the two. Isn't that exactly what the original criticism was, other than in this world your server and client both have packaged code that is likely redundant or at least

My nexus 9 is the most disappointing piece of tech I've ever bought. It used to crash all the time when watching video which was the entire point of buying it, it crashes when it hits 40% battery, which is all the time because the batt

The title is odd in that it sounds like there's some expectation of a process here that is failing. The conclusion fits with what I've found as a natural progression of my approach to tech as I've aged. Late teens to early 20

The post just seems like a verbose post hoc justification for wanting to reinvent something. Which is fine, a lot of good learning comes out these toy domain languages. I just don't see any technical benefits or conceptual leaps here o

I have to admit I thought it was some kind of meta joke about the state of development right now. I just can't imagine many situations where you have cl/cljs capable devs yet want to reject all the benefits of the jvm and use node

considering how tenuous the original comment claiming cloud functions are just basic evolution of cgi scripting I think providing similarly poor analogies is quite apt.

I doubt you're the only one on here with the understanding that a bunch of Pi's is not really a supercomputer cluster, but thanks for the clarification smileyface.

I don't understand the issue. The contract between producer and consumer should never be fragile around additional values existing.

So now you've simplified your 1 app server into 2 app servers that aren't even the same language or environment.

I don't know why this being open is a laudable thing. I just honestly don't see any value at all for the wider world looking in. I'm sure at some point there was an ideal or a vision here but it seems misplaced to me.

I agree in a lot of environments, but web/js build tools seem to have a high frequency of fragmenting and becoming abandoned before any real long-term maturity is established.

IR35 guidelines for contractors are clear enough I feel. A lot of longer-term contractors are in fact effectively employees and and benefit from the security and structure of that yet want the tax benefits as well.

I've been writing production JavaScript since 1999. Writing compatible JS used to be a horrible pain, now everything about writing and maintaining your JS is the pain and browsers by comparison are highly forgiving.

I'm not sure what your understanding of Kinesis Firehose is but, in this situation it would literally remove some moving parts, it would not add complexity. Also potentially cheaper than SQS anyway.

It's also incredibly frustrating that every step that is rediscovered that other languages just have is then subject to endless fragmentation over trivial differences that are put forward as core philosophical concerns. I know this is
